Aaron comes from Emmersweiler, a small village in Germany located directly at the French border. Growing up between two countries sparked his interest in other cultures early on—an interest he later pursued academically through an international physics programme in Germany and France.
During his studies, Aaron developed a particular interest in biophysics, optical imaging, and the application of physical and computational methods to biological systems. In 2026, he joined the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology group at ICFO as a research intern. His work focuses on improving and automating a custom microscope for bioluminescence and Fourier light-field imaging, combining optics, mechanical design, programming, and experiments with Caenorhabditis elegans.
Outside the lab, Aaron enjoys skiing, playing the piano, travelling, and working on small technical projects. He is always eager to learn about new cultures-whether through experimenting with unusual local greetings or through the shared excitement of global sporting events.
