Ariadna Garrido was born in Madrid, Spain. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biochemistry at Universidad Autónoma de Madrid, where she gained an interest in the molecular mechanisms behind neuronal function. During this time, she also completed a brief internship at the University of Hertfordshire in the UK, which allowed her to gain contact with C.elegans for the first time.
Her undergraduate thesis focused on the alterations of post-translational modifications of tubulin in the primary cilium in Joubert Syndrome, a rare disease characterized by a cerebellum malformation.
She is currently a master’s student in Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences at Universitat Pompeu Fabra / Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology.
Outside of the lab, Ariadna enjoys running, watching films at the cinema, going to the beach and exploring new places.
