Montse

Montse did her PhD in the Cellular and Molecular Unit of the Institut Municipal d’Investigació Mèdica, in Barcelona. During her PhD she had the chance of working in colon cancer, particularly in epithelial to mensenchymal transition, investigating how small genetic changes can have powerful outcomes.
After her PhD she moved to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute and to the Caenorhabditis elegans model. There, she not only learned to work with the model organism and expanded her techniques knowledge, but also aided in the setting up of a facility that used the worm to support researchers throughout the world.
Montse’s tasks at the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology group are basically to give support regarding the model organism, particularly in the generation of transgenic lines and in genome editing, basis of several projects in the lab.
When not in the lab, you may find Montse at some volleyball court or the beach, if the weather is good enough to play around!
