Costanza was born in Bergamo, a lovely city in the north of Italy.
She spent her university years in Milan, studying at Politecnico di Milano. There, she started her career with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering, gaining a sound knowledge of electronics devices and circuit design. Following her strong interest toward electronic implementations for photonics techniques, she completed her master’s degree in Physics Engineering, in the branch of Photonics and Nano Optics.
From 2017 to 2018, she had the opportunity to work as technical student in Geneva, Switzerland, at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). In the challenging context of particle accelerators, she wrote her master thesis on Numerical Methods for Particle Tracking in Field Maps. Thanks to this first research experience and mindful of her interest in photonics and microscopy, Costanza decided to continue her academic career with a PhD at ICFO, Barcelona.
In the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology (NMSB) group she will develop microscopy methods to get deep insights into biological matter. More in detail, she will focus on the design and construction of advance 3D light sheet microscopy to study and quantify dynamics changes during mechanical stress in model systems such as C. elegans and cerebral organoids.
When not in the lab, you will find Costanza having dinners with friends, working out, buying too many plants or reading heavy classics under the sun.
