Luis Curiel is a passionate student who comes from Guadalajara, Mexico. He completed his B.S. in Chemistry at Universidad de Guadalajara, where he had the opportunity to work in theoretical chemistry, learning and coding Hartree-Fock methods to calculate ionization energies. He eventually found that he loves the way how computer science, mathematics, physics, biology and chemistry can be used to approach a difficult problem where all these sciences are needed.
He recently finished and published his M.Sc. thesis in photochemical dynamics under incoherent illumination applied in J aggregates. Even though he is used to work from a computer terminal, he is always willing to learn something new and recently, he was fascinated by the research of neurobiology and imaging. Now Luis works as an intern student in the research group “Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology”, led by Dr. Michael Krieg at ICFO.
In his free time, Luis likes to do sports and learn Networking protocols and cloud computing.
