Mart\u00b4\u0131n is a PhD student and a former Master\u2019s student in the group. He
\ngrew up in a very small village in Galicia, Spain, called Castro de Rei, with just
\n200 inhabitants.
\nDespite growing up in an environment with little connection to science, he
\nmoved across the country, driven by his love for physics. He completed his
\nBachelor\u2019s degree at the University of C\u00b4ordoba, spending his final year at Universidad
\nComplutense de Madrid, where he conducted his Bachelor\u2019s thesis on
\nfirst-principles simulations of graphene-based materials. More importantly, during
\nthis year, he was introduced to the field of Complex Systems through concepts
\nlike phase transitions and criticality, which captivated him from the start.
\nFor his Master\u2019s, Mart\u00b4\u0131n moved to Barcelona, where he specialized in the
\nPhysics of Complex Systems and Biophysics. There he carried out his Master\u2019s
\nthesis at ICFO in the Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology
\ngroup, where he studied the effects of microtubule monomers on the mechanical
\nproperties of MEC-2 biomolecular condensates, using optical tweezers.
\nNow, Mart\u00b4\u0131n has rejoined the group as a PhD student, deepening his expertise
\nin the field of biomolecular condensates. His research aims to address a
\n30-year-old question: how does MEC-2 interacts with microtubules to give rise
\nto touch sensing?
\nOutside the lab, you can find Mart\u00b4\u0131n practicing several dances like Brazilian
\nZouk, bachata or salsa or just enjoying dinner with friends while watching a
